Values and Philosophy

My approach to therapy is client-centered and collaborative, honoring the experience of the individual as well as his or her family, cultural and social context. I will work with you in a compassionate, flexible and pragmatic way. We will explore how to make your life better in the present and gain insight into the past, building towards the future you envision. We all have patterns and habits we bring from the past that impact our current lives. You may find that some of these patterns still help you while others block your growth. We can work to identify those patterns so that you can be more aware and responsive, rather than reactive or automatic in your choices. And most importantly, we can identify and further enhance your inherent strengths and resiliency. As your therapist, my hope is for you to be able to envision a responsive, proactive approach to life in which you can roll with the ups and downs of life, and experience genuine happiness and purpose.

Therapeutic Technique and Methodology

My practice is informed by a social justice framework and anti-oppression values, and strive to be flexible to the needs of the client. I have had training and experience in EMDR (eye movement desensitization re-processing), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), trauma-informed therapy interventions and mindfulness.
